Lighting Maintenance Electrician

Reports To: Lighting Supervisor

Status: Full Time, Hourly

Pay Range: $25-$28 Hourly based on experience.

Overview

Hale Centre Theatre is seeking an experienced Lighting Maintenance Electrician to take ownership of the daily upkeep and long term reliability of our advanced theatrical lighting systems. This is not an entry level position, it’s a pivotal, hands on role for someone who knows their way around moving lights, atmospherics, dimmers, and LEDs, and who takes pride in keeping every fixture running like new.

In this role, you’ll be the point person for diagnosing issues, executing repairs, and ensuring system integrity across multiple productions. You’ll work in a venue where intelligent lighting, video, and automation are fully integrated, and where speed, precision, and consistency are essential. You’ll collaborate closely with a talented lighting team and report to the Lighting Supervisor, playing a key part in both day to day operations and long range planning.

Our ideal candidate has experience in professional, technically complex environments, such as large regional theaters, Cirque du Soleil–style productions, or theme park entertainment. You’re methodical, safety conscious, fluent in lighting systems, and thrive under the pressure of show schedules and high expectations. If you enjoy taking equipment apart, fixing problems before they surface, and being the person everyone relies on to keep the system running smoothly, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service, and maintain moving lights (High End Systems, Ayrton, Chauvet, Elation, etc.)

  • Maintain atmospheric systems (MDG, Ultratec, Showven, Antari), including CO₂ tanks and Dewars

  • Service LED tape, practicals, dimmers, relays, and conventional fixtures

  • Prepare for show changeovers: fixture addressing, wiring, cleaning, and full system checks

  • Track issues, parts, and repairs in MaintainX; manage QR coding and equipment records

  • Support install and strike workflows as needed

  • Maintain shop organization, gobo libraries, and fluid and powder inventories

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in professional lighting maintenance or show support

  • Expertise in DMX, RDM, wireless protocols, and ETC Eos systems

  • Electrical wiring, soldering, and diagnostic skills (fixture teardown and repair required)

  • Comfort working at height and operating lifts, ladders, and EWPs

  • Ability to lift 120 lbs and meet physical demands of the role

  • Clear communicator and self motivated team member with strong organizational habits

Bonus if You Have

  • Experience with CO₂ systems, Dewars, or atmospheric pressure gear

  • Familiarity with production prep workflows and repertory style schedules

  • Interest in equipment testing, upgrade planning, and cross department collaboration

Collaborates Closely With

  • Head of Lighting & Video

  • Lighting Supervisor & Assistant Supervisors

  • Lighting Programmers & Technicians

  • Electricians, Spot Ops, Board Ops

  • Video Team
