Primary Light Board Operator / Swing Light Board Operator - Part Time

REPORTS TO: Lighting Supervisor

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB FUNCTION:

The Light Board Operator Position for Hale Centre Theatre will provide assistance in the daily show operations as well as operate the lighting console for assigned shows. The purpose of the position is to help maintain the show consistency from opening night to closing night. Skills needed to perform well in this position include (but are not limited to) basic electrical wiring, experience with DMX, Wireless, LED decoders, and other lighting control systems. Knowledge and programming skills of ETC Eos family lighting consoles, ability to read a light plot and hang a rig accordingly. Troubleshooting skills of console, fixture malfunction and any custom show equipment. Ability to stay calm under pressure. Great communication skills with a strong attention to detail for relaying show notes. Ability to work nights and weekends.

 PRINCIPLE DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Run light board for shows daily as assigned

  • Proficiency with ETC Eos family lighting consoles, systems & networking

  • Complete Pre Show, Half Hour & Post Show duties as assigned

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills - including attention to detail when relaying show or tech notes

  • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting skills for a variety of lighting equipment, fixtures and show specific elements

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment 

  • Maintaining & creating spot paperwork 

  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of organization and time management

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing production needs and schedules including show run, tech & changeovers

  • Assist in show prep for current & future shows as assigned including experience in wiring various types of lighting equipment

  • Able to read standard lighting draftings, Lightwright information & all show related documents

  • Participate in Lighting Hang, Focus, Changeovers & Strikes

  • Willingness to learn and innovate with our ever changing state of the art technology

  • Comfortable working with various LED tape, neon, and custom show specific equipment

  • Good understanding of DMX, wireless equipment, LED decoders, and lighting control systems

  • Other duties as assigned

  • All Show Crew - Stage Management, Deck Crew, Automation, etc.

  • Technical Supervisor

  • Production designers i.e.: Projection, Lighting, Scenic & Sound Designers
